We drove 4 hours from Nashville looking for a gambling resort, but agreed we didn't need to go back there. Burger bar: unfriendly, and almost all the security guards we came into contact with: unfriendly. And lastly, almost everyone who worked there seemed. We walked next door to the Gold Strike Casino and found a couple more, so we were able to play there.
Both were taken by other players the entire time we were there. First, the rooms show their age with stained carpet and furniture, and loose tiles in bath (room 1518). Just off the casino floor, JB’s Café welcomes guests for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a comfortable atmosphere. Last weekends visit was quite a step down for the once regal hotel/casino. The Horseshoe has not come through the pandemic well. My wife and I LOVE playing Caveman Keno, (or any Keno machine for that matter) and it that huge casino with many hundreds of machines, there were TWO Keno machines. disappointing, but not unexpected with pandemic ramifications. Called the front desk and they eventually sent up some towels. We asked a maid cleaning the room next door to us if we could have a couple towels from her little trolley, but she stated she did not have enough to spare. We had tossed all our towels on the floor in anticipation of a new set, but the maids did not come. We had a two-night stay and were not told at check-in (or any other time) that there was no maid service on day two, a left-over policy from the Covid days.
